In August 2020, Beirut was hit by a catastrophic explosion that caused extensive damage, countless fatalities, and thousands of injuries. Even after 5 months, the aftermath of the blast, combined with the economic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic, has had a severe impact on the affected families.
WATAD has stepped in to help through its Beirut Emergency Project, which provides a range of support services to those in need. These include food parcels, hygiene kits, baby kits, blankets, health care items such as wheelchairs and crutches, psycho-social support, and dispatching home-based healthcare professionals for injured individuals.
The response aimed to assist homeless families, injured persons, babies and children, elderly individuals, and persons with disabilities who have been affected by the explosion. WATAD is committed to providing essential aid and support to help those affected by this tragic event.
